THE IGUANAS STORY
Iguanas was established in 1994 in San Jose, California by Paul Orozco. He had an itch to sell delicious food in our community and after a leap of faith and support from family, Iguanas was formed. It was an immediate hit!
In 1998 Uncle Paul moved on to other exciting business ventures and our very own Mama Lu took over operations of Iguanas.
She added her own unique and delectable twist to the cuisine and the recipes as we know them today were born. She also instilled a deep love of great food and customer service in her kids.
Later in 2006, Mama Lu passed the torch to her kids (Jimmy, Sammy, Melissa, Felice, and Dusty) and the second generation Of Iguanas Burritozilla was born. To this day, the second generation is running the business and continues to work
together with the entire family.
This is a FAMILIA BUSINESS
MORE THAN JUST A TAQUERIA
Iguanas is so much more to us than just a place to kick back and grab some good, authentic Mexican food. Our entire family is involved in every step of the process from start to finish. We package, prepare, and produce our own meat and ship them out to our stores from our own facility. We have deep connections and relationships with each and every one of our employees and even consider them a part of our family as well.
When we build out a store, we are hands on. We get in there and do a lot of the work ourselves. Each table you sit at inside an Iguanas is made by hand by our family, from start to finish.
Iguanas means the world to our family and we are so blessed to be able to be here today and do what love every day.
COMING TO TEXAS
For many years, the Iguanas Familia has always admired Texas and everything the state has to offer. The idea of expanding Iguanas to another state wasn’t always in mind but after visiting and deciding to move to San Antonio, the family decided to open up right here in their new home as well.
San Antonio is the first location of Iguanas here in Texas and we can’t wait for more to come in the future when the time is right.
